Plastic Free July: Small Swaps, Real Impact

Every July, a global movement invites millions of people to look a little closer at single-use plastic. Plastic Free July challenges us to refuse what we can, reduce what we can't, and reach for reusable alternatives instead. No perfection required. Just a place to start, and the good habits that build from there.

For us, that mindset isn't new. It's part of how we do things year-round, from the way your order arrives to the pieces we hope you'll reach for again and again.

Packaging that treads a little lighter

The way your order arrives matters to us as much as what's inside it. Since 2022, we've removed over 1,650,000 single-use plastic bags from our orders, swapping them for recyclable, biodegradable sleeves that tread a little lighter. Today, 90% of your orders arrive plastic-free.

Our custom courier bags are recognisable by design and kinder by nature. Made from 80% recycled materials, they're recyclable, reusable, and a considered choice we're proud to stand by.

Easy swaps that actually stick

Plastic Free July works best when the swaps are ones you'll actually keep using, not just for the month, but for good. A few of our favourites:

  • A reusable cup over a disposable. If a coffee starts your day, a reusable cup is the easiest habit to build. There's plenty to choose from too, with Frank Green, Fressko and Re: Union Label all in the mix, plus Chai Baby for the kids' fluffy. Keep one in the car, one at your desk, and you'll barely notice the switch.
  • A tote that earns its place. The best reusable bag is the one you'll actually remember to bring. With its minimalist design, the Flo Natural Linen Tote Bag is perfect for a Sunday market run and roomy enough to be your everyday carry-all, so it never gets left behind in the boot.
  • A drink bottle you'll reach for daily. One good bottle can replace hundreds of single-use ones a year. It keeps you hydrated throughout the day and reduces waste, so it's good for you and the planet. Take your pick from Frank Green, Fressko, Stanley and Re: Union Label.
  • Glass straws over single-use. Plastic straws are one of the easiest things to leave behind once you've a reusable set within reach. Willow & Mae Glass Drinking Straws come in a pack of four with a little cleaning brush, they're dishwasher-safe, and they look far lovelier in a weekend spritz than anything disposable.

None of these requires a big life overhaul. They're low-effort changes that quietly become second nature, which is exactly the point of Plastic Free July.

Progress over perfection

Better choices for the planet were never about getting everything right straight away. They're about doing a little better than before and sticking with it. That's the part that counts, and it's the part anyone can start today.

It's the same thinking behind pieces we hope become part of your everyday rotation rather than a one-season buy. Fewer things, worn more often, chosen with care. It's a quieter kind of sustainable fashion, but it's the kind that lasts.

Plastic Free July is a good reminder, not a finish line. Keep the reusable cup in the car past August. Let the tote become the one you actually use. And know that every order you place with us keeps arriving a little kinder to the planet, long after the month is over.
