A Business Built To Give
When Chrissy and the team first started Flo & Frankie, one of Chrissy's daughters challenged her.She wrote a note saying giving should be part of your growth strategy, not something you wait to do.
"We realised we did not need to wait," Chrissy says. "We could start now."
That challenge became Flo Gives Back, a core value at the heart of the business. It comes to life through a number of initiatives, and Humble + Heart is one of them. The jewellery range was created to give back, with 15% of every jewellery purchase going to Tearfund's Share & Care Nepal, an initiative supporting women and families in rural Nepal.
The Faces She Will Never Forget
In 2018, Chrissy and her three daughters travelled to rural Nepal with the Tearfund team to meet the women this work supports.
"It was life-changing," Chrissy says. "I will never forget the faces of the women we met."
The villages they visited across the Makwanpur District were at different stages of the programme, some years in, others just beginning, and the contrast told its own story. Where women had received even small amounts of seed funding, businesses had been built, and their daughters could access education. That is no small feat here.
What stood out to Chrissy was the hope these mothers hold for their children. "These mothers are just like us," she says. "They want the best for their daughters. They want them to have opportunities and a better future."
The girls spoke of becoming nurses, doctors, and teachers, proudly showing off their crops, livestock, and school reports.
Share & Care Nepal
Share & Care Nepal is Tearfund's local partner on the ground, and is built on a simple belief: give women the right tools, and they will change their own futures.
Women meet in groups to pool their savings and back one another, learning leadership, financial skills, and accountability along the way. They run the meetings, manage the money, and report back, often finding a confidence and a voice they had never been given before.
From there, small beginnings turn into something lasting. One goat becomes two. Income grows. Children are fed, clothed, and sent to school.
"This is not about handouts," Chrissy says. "It is about equipping women with skills and opportunities that transform their futures."
Because the work is led by local people who know the culture, the language, and the community, its impact runs deep and holds over time.
The Impact
The results speak for themselves. According to Share & Care's 2025 review, there were no new cases of early marriage, trafficking, or domestic violence reported in these communities. Eleven girls received scholarships and completed schooling. Around 1,500 people took part in awareness programmes on trafficking, unsafe migration, and gender-based violence. More than 200 households started small businesses or livestock initiatives. And over 70 women, once supported themselves, now train as counsellors to support others.
One woman summed it up: "I am no longer merely surviving. I am thriving with hope, strength, and determination to build a better future for myself, my family, and my community."
As Chrissy puts it: "It is tangible. It is generational. It is lasting change."
