Navigating Work & Mental Wellbeing

We know the COVID situation in New Zealand is still creating shifts in the way we work and socialise for everyone. It certainly has for us here at Flo & Frankie HQ and in our stores - we have moved into a hybrid way of life, working from the office and home while still being able to go out, socialise with those near and dear and of course supporting local businesses. Over the past few weeks, we have found ourselves starting our phone calls or emails with the question of “How are you feeling?”.We’ve heard it’s similar for most of you, our Flo Family, so with that in mind, we’ve put together a blog of our top tips for a hybrid lifestyle, how to check in with yourself and others and of course, a few self-care treats and items to help you navigate yet another change in lifestyle.

 Make a dedicated workspace

Avoid working from your bedroom, it’s important to keep that space sacred and stress-free. Try to designate one area for work and get everything you need before you start each day (chargers, pens, paper, candles etc) so once you’re in the space you can focus on the work at hand.

Create and stick to a routine

It’s easy for the lines between home and work to blur. You may find yourself checking emails after hours or starting later than usual. Try to follow your normal work routine and keep it consistent both in the office and at home, even down to the small things like going to bed and waking up at the same time will help you feel more in control.

 Give yourself a break

Breaks are important not only for productivity but also for managing stress and your mental health. Be sure to take your lunch break and smaller 5–10-minute breaks throughout the day to get fresh air, stretch your legs and step away from the screen.

 Check-in with others

Meet a friend out for coffee, or if you know someone isolating drop a treat or two off at their front door. A simple action like asking how someone’s day is can put a smile on their face and help them feel less alone.

 Support local

It’s time for us to come together and support our favourite local businesses from hospitality to spas and everywhere in between. Let’s share the love with each other.

We’ve also pulled together our favourite essentials we think you’ll love. Not only will this edit inspire your workflow, but these items should also help make your hybrid lifestyle a little bit more stress-free. Shop the edit here.
